By giving donations to The Mission of Love Charities, Inc. (MOLC) of Capitol Heights, Maryland, a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to helping the under-served, people in poverty, by providing free programs and services designed to meet their immediate and short-term needs.  Donations help a low-income family or homeless person’s transition into independent living.

 HOW:

For pick-ups of furniture and 10 or more garbage bags of clothing, call 301-333-4440 and ask for Ms. Purdie or Mr. Parker.  Please allow at least two weeks for pick-up.  On the other hand, it is a big help to the MOLC if you can transport your items and bring them directly to our warehouse.

 WHY:

MOLC’s clients are those persons from the greater Washington, DC region between the ages of 20 and 45 who support themselves and their family with an income under $17,000 per year.  Many are the “working poor” or women with children who are unsupported in their transition from welfare-to-work, and are shopping at MOLC to supplement their limited income. 

 In addition to furniture, clothing, nonperishable food, and household amenities, MOLC offers to those they serve, Life Skills training and workshops, Youth Development, and a Senior Network program that teaches basic computer skills, health screening, recreation, etc.

  All donations are tax deductible and you receive a receipt for your items.
